A Challenge Worth Doing - Funeral for a Friend

Last week, I delivered my most difficult funeral ceremony - that of a friend. I am so glad that I was able to do this for him, his wife, and his family.

He was a lovely man with so many friends and connections across the UK and beyond. It was amazing to hear more about him and to see all of these people who had their lives touched by his talents and kindness.

I will miss him very much.

Moments To...look forward

I'm very excited.

This week I have had calls from different friends. One, would like a double naming ceremony in September for her two children. The second, would like a wedding ceremony within the year.

I am very excited to have skills that I can use to help my friends have some of their best days with the favourite people.

I am also about to start the revamp of my website - eep!

It's all moving in the right direction.

I'd also be very excited to help you create your Moments To...celebrate.

Moments To...Reflect

As I wait for my next celebrant job, I'm enjoying the sunshine and feeling very positive about my career change.

As a funeral celebrant, it is amazing to be allowed into a family, to be given a glimpse into their history, and to see how the power of recollection can bring joy and laughter to a time that can often feel very dark.

I think this is one of the reasons I am glad I have made the change.

First Few Funerals

A couple of weeks ago, I conducted my first funeral ceremony. It was for a man who had not always had the easiest of lives, but had maintained a positive outlook. There were many kind, generous and even funny memories shared with those who were able to attend the ceremony. He seemed to be a very loved gentleman.

I know it seems strange to say I enjoyed writing and delivering a funeral ceremony, but I did.

I was honoured to be allowed to perform such a ceremony, to be entrusted with fleeting memories, and help his family and friends with a key part of their mourning process.

I have two more ceremonies soon. Each have their quirks and idiosyncrasies, but the shared elements are that both parties will be dearly missed by their loved ones, and I will do my best to give them a thoughtful final ceremony.

Am still here - Celebrant Your Ceremony!

I am currently experiencing some large upheavals in my non-Celebrant life and also working on a new and shiny website look. Hence, the quietness on here.

Yesterday, was the photo-shoot for some pictures I want to use on my new page. It is a strange way to spend an afternoon trying to get sand to pour artistically and feet to stylishly (and in a synchronised fashion) jump a broom.

Let the future be shiny bright,

Be back soon.
